TAFE VIC & Autism Report Joint Survey - Amaze

TAFE VIC & Autism Report Joint Survey

The Victorian Parliament is currently inquiring into access to TAFE for Students with Disability. TAFE is a critical pathway to jobs, and it needs to work well for Autistic students.

Our Autism Organisations are banding together to conduct the first ever survey (that we know of) about the experiences of Autistic students in Victorian TAFE (sometimes TAFEs are called Institutes e.g. Box Hill Institute).

We want to hear from current Victorian TAFE students and those who went to TAFE in the last 5 years, even if you didn’t finish your course. We also want to hear from Autistic people who are thinking of going to TAFE in the next two-three years.

We aim to understand what is happening for Autistic students in TAFE – the good, the bad and importantly, your thoughts on what is needed to make TAFE better for Autistic students in the future. We will use the information collected to inform our policy recommendations and advocacy to governments and TAFEs about the needs of Autistic people.

The survey is designed to be undertaken by Autistic people independently, or where needed, with the assistance of their parent/carer/guardian.

Please answer whatever questions are most relevant to you. You can skip questions if you want. The survey will take about 15 mins if you have are, or have been a TAFE student. For those thinking of going to TAFE in the next few years, the survey is much shorter.

We understand it’s a busy time with assessments coming up, so are extra appreciative of any time you can offer. The more people who respond the better.

You can stop the survey at any time.

This is an anonymous survey. We will not be able to tell who sent individual responses.

For more detailed questions about the Parliamentary Inquiry into Access to TAFE for Learners with Disability, contact the Inquiry’s Secretariat at [email protected].

The survey closes on 4 November.
