Program Overview

The A-Plus Group Learning Program is designed to support organisations in achieving their inclusion objectives and creating an autism inclusive workplace. With a focus on understanding autism and exploring the Autistic experience in the workplace, the program provides participants with practical knowledge and tools to help support a more inclusive culture and improved collaboration within your organisation.  

As a participant in the Group Learning Program you will:  

  • Develop an increased understanding of autism in the workplace and unpack misconceptions and assumptions. 
  • Learn practical strategies to help you nurture a more autism inclusive workplace culture within the context of your organisational environment. 
  • Gain access to quality, evidence informed learning resources that have been developed collaboratively, incorporating input and feedback from Autistic people in, and actively looking for work, a specialist Autistic Advisory Group, and a wide range of Australian businesses.

Program Components

Self-paced e-Learn

You will have access to self-paced online learning modules, allowing for flexible learning that fits within your schedule. The self-paced modules range from 1520 minutes each and explore various key concepts relating to a foundational understanding of autism and autism inclusive practices in the workplace. 

Interactive workshops  

Facilitated workshops led by an experienced presenter will provide opportunities for engaging in group learning and enable peer discussion, ideation and problem-solving.  

Action plan  

You will receive two comprehensive action plans that can be used outside of the program to implement the knowledge and strategies that you have gained, tailoring it to your own organisational environment.  

A-Plus Foundations e-Learn

Access to the A-Plus Foundations self-paced program to embed within your organisations Learning Management System (LMS) at no additional cost. This e-Learn is available until 31 December 2024 for all fully funded places.

Program Modules

Segmented into four stages over an 8-week period, the program will guide you through key concepts using evidence, lived experience, and self-reflection activities. 

Part 1: A-Plus Foundations 

  • Understanding neurodiversity and Autistic experience 
  • How the brain works (Executive functioning and attention)  
  • Sensory processing 
  • Communication 
  • The social brain  

Part 2: Making sense of it all 

  • In the first interactive group workshop, you’ll explore practical applications of A-Plus Foundations in the areas of how the brain works together, sensory processing, communication and the social brain.  

Part 3: An A-Plus Workplace 

  • Introduction to the A-Plus approach and framework 
  • Understand the challenges the Autistic community experiences in the workplace 
  • Attraction and Recruitment  
  • Onboarding 
  • Supporting Success  

Part 4: Becoming an A-Plus Workplace 

  • In the final interactive group workshop, you’ll work together to develop a roadmap of priority actions that can be implemented across your team, department or division based on your organisational context using the A-Plus framework.  

Program Delivery

Thanks to the Building Employer Confidence in Disability and Inclusion Grant, we are pleased to offer two intakes into the A-Plus Group Learning Program. Details for each of these intakes are below. 

Each intake includes the following, split over the 8-week period: 

  • 5 x 20-minute online modules (completed weeks 1 and 2) 
  • 1 x 3-hour workshops (completed week 3) 
  • 6 x 15-minute online modules (completed weeks 5 and 6) 
  • 1 x 3-hour workshops (completed week 7) 
  • 1 x 20-minute survey (week 8)  

Note: there is a break at the halfway point of the program and there will be no activities in week 4.

  • Dates: commencing 11 June to 2 August 2024 
  • Available places: 20 
  • Duration: 8-weeks 

Intake Two

  • Dates: commencing 8 July to 30 August 2024 
  • Available places: 20 
  • Duration: 8-weeks 

Cost

The full value of the Group Learning Program is $1,690.00 per participant.
